Tartuffe; or, The Hypocrite - Molière

A pious fraud named Tartuffe worms his way into the household of the wealthy Orgon by feigning extreme religious devotion. Blinded by faith, Orgon nearly sacrifices his family’s happiness and fortune to this manipulative impostor. Tartuffe’s hypocrisy is eventually exposed through wit and quick thinking by the others. The play satirizes false piety and the dangers of blind trust under the guise of virtue.
